Jennifer Ruiz

Jennifer Ruiz is an associate at McCoy Leavitt Laskey LLC in Ann Arbor, MI. She earned her J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law in 2025 and holds a B.S. in Paralegal Studies.

Before attending law school, Jennifer began her legal career as a paralegal in 2019, gaining experience in areas including consumer bankruptcy, family law, criminal defense, and personal injury. While in law school, she worked as a student attorney in the Criminal Trial Clinic, offering pro bono representation to clients facing misdemeanor charges through the public defender’s office in the 36^th and 52-4 District Courts. She also held several leadership roles in student organizations and co-founded the Cyber and Privacy Law Student Association.

She is currently an active member of the Hispanic Bar Association of Michigan and the Insurance & Indemnity Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan. Outside of work, Jennifer enjoys yoga, barre, and spending time with her dog
